The middle of December has passed, and Naoshima is beginning to feel the winter season. Due to the warm autumn, the coloring of the trees in the mountains was late this year, but the autumn leaves in our garden and the trees in the hills behind ROKA have completely changed their colors, delighting our eyes.
The garden is looking a little chilly due to the replanting of Carex kiwi, but the Atuba kikimigayoran (species of citrus fruit) has produced beautiful flowers again this year. Every time you pass by the approach to the curtain, you can smell its impressive sweet fragrance.
The mountains behind ROKA, where there are few evergreen trees, change color at once during the fall foliage season. The trees that have turned red and yellow are now falling off their leaves, and by the time their branches become visible, the full-blown winter of Naoshima will have arrived.
Although the Setouchi area of Naoshima seems mild, in winter, the wind from the sea comes in and the temperature is much colder. We hope you will come dressed warmly. We look forward to your visit.
