At Naoshima Ryokan ROKA, we are pleased to present the ninth exhibition in our series, featuring Yamayuki by photographer Masahide Kobayashi.
This body of work originates from a snowy landscape encountered in a mountain village in 2018. Tracing scenes connected to memories of the artist’s grandmother, the photographs quietly capture small moments of everyday life and the subtle presence embedded within the land.
In this exhibition, we invite guests to encounter the works within the private setting of their rooms— not only to view the photographs, but to experience living with them.
We hope that during your stay, the scenery before you and the memories within you may gently overlap.
A photo book of the same title, Yamayuki (published by Artbeat Publishers), is available at our in-house shop. (JPY 3,850, tax included)
